Papers, 1794-1973.

Contains papers of members of the Moore and Price families, who primarily resided in Richmond, Va. Included is a small amount of correspondence, 1794-1835, of Richard Channing Moore (1762-1841), Episcopal Bishop of Virginia, with his wife and daughter. Correspondence, 1821- 1880, of his granddaughter, Christian Elizabeth (Hall) Price (1811-1885), is chiefly with family members. Accounts, estate papers, and correspondence pertain to her husband, Thomas Randolph Price (1806-1868) and his mercantile firm, T.R. Price and Company, in Richmond, Va. Papers of their daughter, Virginia Eliza Price (1833-1908), who never married, include a diary, 1884-1885, recounting her mother's last illness, and two commonplace books, 1849-1850 and 1850-1851, containing notes on history and philosophy. Papers of Virginia's sister-in-law, Lou Fitzhugh (Little) Price (1855?-1943), contain financial papers reflecting her ownership of Richmond real estate. Correspondence, 1918-1919, of Lou's son, William Little Price (b. 1886), contains letters written to his mother while serving in the U.S. Army in France during World War I. Papers of Lou's daughter, Louise Fitzhugh Price (1884-1973), who never married, include a diary, 1905-1909, kept in Richmond, Va.; correspondence, 1895-1965, and other papers illuminating her career as a social worker for the Virginia Department of Public Welfare; and two commonplace books, 1941-1953 and 1954-1959, recording her investments.
